WHO I AM

Some would say that I practice a contemplative or mindful photography.  I don’t know.  I photograph what touches me.

I was born and live in Quebec, Canada.  I divide my time between Montreal and the Charlevoix region as I somehow get the best of both worlds.  The city life, mostly on foot as I walk the streets among people, old and young.   And then the country life, the long drives to get there, the walks along the shores of the magnificent Saint Lawrence River, the trails of the boreal forest, the lakes, the villages and their people.

I was born and live with art in my life.  I have visited, explored and left various art forms.  Filmmaking, painting, writing, woodworking, and other creative pursuits.  Without it, I have no idea how alive (if alive) I would be today.  However one art form has never left me – photography.  Although I have never introduced myself as a photographer, my mind and my camera have always been in connection from a young age.  I like to set what I see into a frame.  I like to watch light, or its absence.  I like the daydreaming that images bring to my life.

My photographic mind is always active;  my camera less so.  I don’t feel the urge to shoot shoot shoot.  I need to have a connection, but foremost, it’s about desire, to remember the light and shadows of a moment.  Therefore, my work is eclectic.  I’m unconcerned with style. I care only about the light, the frame, and the life (or absence thereof) that I can hold in a photograph.

I have gathered here some images that appeal to me.  They are loosely grouped in themes.  I also have projects in the works that will find their place here in the coming months.  This website will remain a work in progress.  As I am one myself.  Feel free to come back to take a look, or leave your email address in the contact form to be kept informed.  Or to talk to me.  I will reply back.  It is all about connection, isn’t it?

I hope you enjoy.

  • Black and white version of foliage photo to compare its the rich tones against the original in color

    April 4, 2025

Seeing is all about light, or alternatively, its absence. Each color represents only a small portion of the visible spectrum, and although all colors combined appear white, this is merely an illusion. In reality, [...]

  • What memory does to our moments - what is left when details and events have started undergoing the process of erasure

    April 3, 2025

We go through many memorable moments in life.  A baby is born 30 years ago. A car crash in the middle of the night when you were four.  A head butt that left you [...]

    March 28, 2025

I met a lynx once just around the corner of the house I have in the country.  I was sitting by the lake when my eye caught a movement at the edge of the [...]
